    Ilia Syrtsou

Ilia is a software engineer with almost 10 years of experience of web development in medical, financial, and educational domains. He mainly uses .NET/C#, Node.js, and React/Angular for development, and sometimes Java. He is eager to learn and try new things, thinking architecture-wise, upside-down.

In his practice, he pays a lot of attention to owning the piece he is writing and clearly understanding the overall picture for the app so fewer errors are made.

Software Developer, EPAM, Minsk, Belarus, 2018–2020. Was involved in a big rewrite of a Silverlight 5 tax application in .NET with microservices on the back end and Angular 6 on the front. Actively mentored junior developers.

    Personal

Ilia grew up in a family of 5 people in Minsk, Belarus. He enjoyed architecting things with Lego, coming up with stories around them, and later disassembling and then assembling various electronics. He was introduced to the C language at 9 by his father, and has been programming since then.

He left his home country in 2020 and has traveled ever since, living mainly in Latin America, in Ecuador, Colombia, and Mexico. He enjoys surfing, diving, and hiking. He has gotten a good touch of culture, learned fluent Spanish, and met lots of great people.
